Willie Mitchell

Willie Mitchell, a record producer, label head and musician who worked with Al Green and other stars, died. He was 81.

Mitchell died at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis at 7:25 a.m., more than two weeks after he suffered cardiac arrest Dec. 19, said his son, Lawrence Mitchell.

For this reason, I decided to post this album and it is dedicated to the memory of Willie Mitchell

Trumpeter, producer, composer, arranger and bandleader, born 23 March 1928 in Ashland, Mississippi, died of a heart attack on January 5th, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Co-owner of Hi Records from 1970 to 1979 and founder of the Waylo Records label in the 1980's. Mitchell also owned and operated the Royal Recording Studio in Memphis, Tennessee.

In 1981 he recorded album at Royal Recording Studio. The album entitled "Willie...Mitchell...Listen...Dance" was released on Bearsville Records. In my opinion is a great album. The musicians were Eddie Fisher on drums, Steve Cobb on bass, Michael Toles on guitar, Don Brown, Willie Mitchell and Michael Toles on piano and Walter Person on percussion. Trumpet by Wayne Jackson, Ben Cauley, Jack Hale Jr & Mark Blunberg. Tenor sax by Andrew Love and Darnell Smith. Trombone by Jack Hale, Jackie Thomas and Ken Spain. Baritone sax by James Mitchell. All sax solos by Andrew Love. All trumpet solos and piano solos by himself. Vocal background by Erma Shaw, Elizabeth Smith, Cindy Farr and Romell Greenlee. String & horn arrangements by Michaels Toles, James Mitchell and Willie Mitchell. String section by Memphis Strings. Produced by Willie Mitchell and Michael Toles.

I have chosen one of my all time favourite songs entitled "Reachin' Out". Also the track "Give the World More Love".
