J.G.Lewis (AKA) Johnny Gilliam

J.G.Lewis (AKA) Johnny Gilliam is one of the best singers with deep voice in Northern Soul scene. He was a singer from Pittsburgh. He has been recording for two decades. In the 60s he wrote tunes for Jimmy Ruffin, Tommy Hunt and Major Lance, besides serving The Marvelettes as musical director and road guitarist since 1964. In the 70s he did some recordings under the name “J.G.Lewis” on IX Chains Records in 1975 and 1976. One of them entitled "Let the music play" in 1975. Composed and produced by himself. Arranged by Richard Tee.

Afterwards he released two singles entitled "Come back carol / It's true, it's true, it's only you" and "(Tonights the night) Love will make it alright / Thank you for loving me" as John Gilliam on ICA Records in 1977 and 1978 respectively.
I chose the single "Come back carol". Composed by himself.

However once again he released a single as J.G.Lewis. He released a 7 incher entitled “Dance lady dance / That’s her ( That’s the girl for you)” on a small label called "Al & The Kidd Records" in 1980.

Both of these songs were written by himself. Arranged by himself and Leroy Kirkland. Produced by himself and W.Prodocimo.

This single is the last one I have ever seen from him.

Note: The above posted singles are not played in full
