Lawrence Hilton Jacobs - Fly away (to my wonderland) 1978



Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs (born September 4, 1953 in New York City) is an American actor. He has appeared in a number of films and television programs, including Claudine (1974), Cooley High (1975), Roots (1977), Welcome Back, Kotter (1975), Bangers and Mash (1983), and The Jacksons: An American Dream (1992). He began his acting career in the summer of 1969 and graduated from the High School of Art and Design in 1971. Afterward, he studied acting with the world famous Negro Ensemble Company and the Al Fann Theatrical Ensemble. In 1975, he won the part of Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington on the ABC hit comedy series, Welcome Back, Kotter. Hilton-Jacobs starred in a few commercials over the years, including an early 1970s commercial for The United Negro College Fund.

Getting a deal with ABC Records, Jacobs began as singer working with Lamont Dozier and released his first solo album on ABC Records in 1978. Lamont Dozier helped him on production and wrote most of the songs. One of them called “Fly away (to my wonderland)”. Also this song was released as a single. However Ben E.King made the first recording on the same year. Lamont Dozier wrote words and McKinley Jackson wrote music respectively. For Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, words and music were written by Lamont Dozier.





Jacobs' next ABC album was All the Way...Love issued in March 1979 and produced by another Motown alumnus, Freddie Perren (the Corporation, the Jackson 5, the Miracles, the Sylvers, Peaches and Herb).
At the same time Jacobs as producer collaborated with the group Halo Band. He was friend with Karvin Johnson (Lead singer of the group). They released a single entitled "Let me do it".
Later he collaborated with artists such as Lonnie Jordan, Sylvers, Rick James. In 1984 he recorded third album, but he never released. However he released 12 inch entitled "I Never Been Here Before" on Street City Records.
