Brenda Vaughn - Ready or not (I'm falling in love again)



Brenda Vaughn is a great singer from Oakland, California. She is also songwriter and music coordinator. She was born in 1958. She started singing at the age of 4. Later, she entered in the Gospel Jazz Choir of the Merrit College under the direction of Jackie Hairston. She started her professional career as a singer in several spots such as Dock of The Bay, Ivey’s In Jack London Square, Erles Solano Club, The Hyatt Regency and later Geoffrey’s Inner Circle.
When she became known in her area, the label Pashlo Records spotted her and signed with her. In the early 80s she released her first single entitled "Ready or not (I'm falling in love again) / Nature's calling".


I want to note that "Ready or not (I'm falling in love again)" is one of my favorite songs. This great song was written by Richard McGowan, Chris Burns and Brenda Vaughn. Arranged by Richard McGowan, Chris Burns and Vernon Black. Produced by Richard McGowan, Chris Burns and D.Denny.
Some of the musicians were Vernon Black on guitar, Richard McGowan on bass and Chris Burns on keyboards.



The flip side "Nature's calling" is a funky song. This single received great reviews and opened many performance opportunities.

Later Brenda discovered her talent on production. Brenda produced/co-produced/coordinated special events with so many major recording artists such as Cece Peniston, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Ann Nesby, The BET Presents Motown Talent Search, Brian McKnight, Kashif and the love her life, “Sunday Gospel Brunch”! As a result, Brenda formed a production company called “Sistuh To Sistuh”. Brenda received awards for Best Entertainer and Best Recording Artist in the Bay from The Top Star Awards in The San Francisco Bay Area and was also presented with Oaklands proclamation Dec 12, 1997 this was declared Brenda Vaughn's Day! She started to travel all over Europe and Asia. For some reasons she moved from Oakland to Japan, where she gained big recognition and success. For those long time achievement, on April 2007, she was honored as “Living Legend Award” at Bay Area Black Music Awards. She also has received one triple platinum and two platinum awards for her coordinating work with Japan's Ki/oon /Sony Music recording artist The Gospellers. Finally, Brenda had a chance to perform at one of President Obama’s inauguration parties, as a background singer.
In 2010 she released a single CD entitled "The worst is over" on B.International Entertainment LLC. Her new full CD coming soon.

The Muglestons was a five-member family group which appeared in various places with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Pat Henry, Judy Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Hope and Charlie Rich. It has also appeared on the " Merv Griffin Show ". In addition,  it was possibly one of the first musical groups to perform on Dick Clark's " American Bandstand " without a recording. The group has started singing together since the late 60s. They consisted by the brothers and sister  Bob , Blaine , Troy , Lance and Desiree . In the mid 70s the group signed with the Mike Curb's label, called AOA. In 1977 the group released an album on ECI (Entertainment Consultants International). Sir James Randolph was born in Brewton Alabama. After leaving Alabama, he moved to New York where he attended and graduated from Long Island University. He started to sing in night clubs throughout the city. Then he was involved into Theater, Television & Film. Performing in Las Vegas and around the world, Sir James Randolph has become one of the most celebrated performers. Sir James Randolph made his only Broadway appearance as Sky Masterson in the 1976 all black company of " Guys and Dolls "   along   with   Robert Guillaume as Nathan Detroit,   Norma Donaldson as Miss Adelaide ,  Ernestine Jackson as Sarah Brown." Guys and Dolls " is a musical and was directed and choreographed by Billy Wilson.
