Nydia Caro - Softly 1978



Nydia Caro is a singer and actress. She was born in New York City. However her parents were born in Puerto Rico. She has released over 20 albums in her career. In 1967 she released the debut album when she moved to Puerto Rico. She won many awards in the 70s, such as the "Festival de la CanciĆ³n" in Colombia in 1970, in 1973 the "Festival de Benidorm" in Valencia of Spain and in 1974 the prestigious Festival OTI in Mexico.
In 1977 she released an album on Alhambra Records. All the songs from the self-titled album are in spanish. It includes the song "Suavemente". She also sings the song "Inseparable" in spanish which became known with Natalie Cole in 1975. The album was produced by Manuel De La Calva.


A year later "Suavemente" was released as a single. The flip side was the disco song "Sugar Me". It was released on Libra Records. However this time "Suavemente" was recorded with english lyrics.


"Suavemente" was penned by Manuel De La Calva and Ramon Arcusa. Nydia Caro wrote the english lyrics.



In the same year "Suavemente" was released under the name "Softly" on the same label, Libra Records.
